VE Day, Picadilly, May 1945 - Wolfgang Suschitzky
An exile from Vienna, Suschitzky finally settled in England in 1935 working as a photographer before going on to become a cinematographer.
This exhibition is marvellous, not just for the quality and variety of the photographs but also for introducing me to a lot of people that I did not know about, all of whom have fascinating stories.
I’m very taken with James Charlick’s photo, “The Grand Library,” shot in an abandoned house during an urban exploration expedition.
This is one of the saddest pictures I’ve ever seen.
